Google-parent Alphabet is significantly expanding its presence in India by leasing a large office tower in Bengaluru, with options to occupy additional space that could more than double its workforce in the country. Alphabet has leased an office tower spanning over 656,000 square feet in Alembic City, Bengaluru, India’s primary technology hub. According to real estate analytics firm Propstack, the lease signals Alphabet’s intent to scale operations aggressively in the country.

Reports indicate that Alphabet also holds options to occupy at least two additional buildings, taking the total potential office space to around 2.4 million square feet. If fully utilized, the Bengaluru campus could accommodate up to 20,000 additional employees, more than doubling Alphabet’s existing footprint in India.

A Google spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that the company maintains a strong presence across India and had leased one tower of approximately 650,000 square feet at the Bengaluru property in 2024. Google currently operates from three offices in Bengaluru and, in February last year, inaugurated one of its largest offices globally in the city.
